The Blue Rock cable water ski-ing and wakeboarding club is a fun place for any family to visit. Located just out of Cape Town in Somerset West, Blue Rock offers a bar for the adults, lovely areas where picnics are perfect for any family, and a lake where you can spend the whole day swimming. For those brave enough, there is an overhead cable system that pulls you along on your wakeboard. Some other activities that you can take part in here is on the mini golf course and a volleyball court for those who like to keep active even while they are on holiday.

After a day of Blue Rock cable water ski-ing and wakeboarding, you can end off by going to the restaurant, having a delicious meal and heading back to where you are staying. You will also find a shop where the prices are very reasonable, so you can get what you need to take home with you after a day of fun. The wakeboard shop has something for all wakeboarding fans! Somerset West is approximately thirty minutes out of the Mother City and very easy to find, so getting there should not be a problem. The prices differ from getting into the resort to making use of the cable skiing; you pay R30 per adult to get in and R115 to ski for an hour.

You can find the restaurant and bar menu along with all prices on the Blue Rock website. To enjoy rock jumping and swimming for the day you will pay R30 and this price also goes for enjoying some time on the grass where the picnics take place. As you can see, the Blue Rock cable water ski-ing and wakeboarding offers many adventures and has something for the whole family to do, so driving out there for the day is definitely worth it!

Golf courses in Somerset West are top quality and Larry Gould describes Erinvale as “The best residential golf course South Africa has to offer”. This one is one of the many designed by the legend of the sport himself Mr.Gary Player and hardly anything has been altered since it first opened apart from the introduction of some beautiful trees and surrounds. As with most places in the area the beautiful Helderberg mountains are the backdrop to this popular club as well as surrounding hillside scenery and even ocean views from some of the higher vantage points.

Also among the golf courses in Somerset West is the country club which is the oldest club in the area being founded in the year 1908. Always kept in good condition with fairly large greens and seven of the 18 holes having water hazards this is a somewhat deceptive course as at first it can look flat and easy to play. Trevor Immelman is among the exceptional golfing talents to come from this club which apart from their golfing section is home to tennis, squash and bowls facilities.

Both Erinvale and the country club have their own Pro Shops for those looking to buy the latest equipment and accessories. Vodacom Golf Village is one of the areas most popular driving ranges in the Helderberg and offers 50 driving bays as well as places to practice your short game and putting. The village is located in De Beers Avenue which is close to the Somerset Mall and in the same road as the soccer club. If you are in the area on holiday or business and want to get out for a round or two then head on out to the popular golf courses around the Somerset West area.
